Doesn't actually have to be Bumstead. See, this post is really about answering the question, "How do I look like X?".
‘X’ can essentially be anyone with big arms, chiselled abs and a jawline sharp enough to cut through glass. But asking how you can look like someone else is the wrong question.
Usually this is followed up with a heartwarming talk on how you can’t look like someone else because “you’re you”. You have your genetic abilities and they have there’s. And I don’t think this is completely wrong, it’s just also boring as shit (because it’s been said a million times). So, here’s the other thing I want you to think about.
Even if you could look exactly like someone else, there isn’t one thing that’s going to make this happen. It isn’t one type of bicep curl you aren’t doing. It isn’t one superfood you aren’t eating. It’s a combination of things. So, instead, let's look at it like this…
What are the people I want to look like doing that I’m not?
Simple, they are living the life they promote online.
For all it’s flaws, Instagram is actually pretty good at proving my point here. Often these people are consistently displaying the simple things they do everyday that contribute to their physique. But these simple things often get overlooked for the fancy shit. They might reel you in with cool looking exercises and complex recipes in their FDOE’s, but the real reason they look the way they do is because they turn up consistently multiple days per week to the gym. They track their calories every single day. They don’t have cheat meals every Friday (and Saturday and Sunday, whilst you're at it).
If you created a fitness account on social media, how much content would you have to post? Of your workouts? Of your food choices? Could you show that you are ‘doing the do’? Every single day, not once every couple of weeks? I’ll wait while you have a think…
…
Before you get too demoralised, let me tell you about how I help my clients 'do the do' every single week using something called a “check-in sheet”. And how you can ramp up your consistency using the same method as them.
A check-in is used to make sure they are still on top of their own shit. And it’s for people who know that ‘showing’ is better than ‘saying’ when it comes to their health and fitness journey.
These check-ins are very easily something you can fit into your own life to help you stay on track. My clients use a specially designed spreadsheet where they keep track of things like scale weight, daily calorie intake, workouts, etc. But you could even do this on a social media account where you post your weekly progress. Holding you accountable and also allowing you to look back on how far you've come.
Here's some other things to consider tracking and posting about:
• Daily steps walked
• Cardio - Calories, time or distance
• Physique photos
• Measurements - Like biceps, chest, waist, etc.
• Sleep score - Average for the week (1 being insomnia and 5 being perfect).
• 3 Great things that happened this week - In any facet of your life.
So, now you know some more about my client check-ins and how you can implement them into your own life, let me tell you a little more about online coaching.
Wait.
I know you're about to click off. Nobody likes an ad, right?
But, In all honesty, I'm not interested in selling to you. Successful online coaching cannot be sold. People who need a sales pitch in order to buy a service like mine will not stick around for more than a few months, and there's no benefit in that for either you or me.
I'm not going to reel off a list detailing the tailored training plan I offer, the weekly nutrition programming, check-ins via Loom and my mobile number for constant support when you need it.
Instead, I want to know whether this sounds like something you're craving...
• Boosted confidence in yourself both inside and out
• A physique you're proud of whether you're rocking a binder or you've got those freshly healed scars out
• A sense of gender euphoria you've never been able to experience before when you look in the mirror
Having now seen 100's of clients get those sorts of results, I can confidently say those things will only benefit you.
Online coaching for the people I work with is rarely about getting stupidly lean and being able to see every vein possible (you can do that if you want to). It isn’t about starving yourself just to fit into a pair of board shorts. This is about doing the things you know will make you feel better.
Still here?
Time for the kicker…
There's only 16 weeks left of the year, and 2024 has been pretty crazy for me and Self-Made Coaching. Rebranding, improving my online content and doing a photoshoot has meant I’m busier than ever working with incredible people. And, in order to make sure I give every single client the attention they deserve, there’s always a chance I’ll have to stop taking on new clients until next year.
So you can see just how much of my time each and every client gets, here’s everything they receive from me at the moment:
A training program tailored to their goals, how many days they can train and the exact equipment they have available to them. No cookie cutter shit round here.
Weekly nutrition programming with access to their own calories, macros and meal planning guidance (if required).
Weekly check-ins and feedback via Loom
My mobile number to message me at any point during the week for extra help
Discord community group to interact with like minded Trans people and watch/ read exclusive content from me
