"There's No Such Thing As A Trans Fitness Plan"

Updated: Jan 3

Correct. Just like there’s also no such thing as a “women’s workout plan”, but there’s still coaches who work exclusively with females. Or just like that coach who works with "dad's over 40 who want to get fit". Do you think they use special dad exercises? No. They have a training and nutrition plan containing exercises and foods the same as everyone else.

Thinking Trans fitness coaches are selling a lie tells me you don’t understand what coaching actually is. It’s not about the training plan, the macro split or the fancy spreadsheets. Because none of that means anything if you’re too scared to approach the coach in the first place. Let me explain.

Have you ever looked at getting a coach yourself, as a Trans person? If yes, did you get anxiety when thinking about the following…

• How is this person going to react when I tell them I’m Trans?

• Will they even know what that means?

• Will they know how to address me?

• Will they understand I’m not on HRT yet, so my progress will be different to a Cis guy’s?

• How will I navigate physique photos? I haven’t had top surgery yet...

• Will they be disrespectful behind my back?

See, most of what I do as a coach is bring a level of empathy and understanding to the table that other coaches cannot. Just like that woman who wants to work with a female coach because she understands motherhood and period pains. Or that dad who wants to work with a coach who's also a dad. He understands that you're sleep deprived and living off of chicken nuggets at dinner time. If you book a call with me I already know you’re Trans, why your chest is blurred out in photos and that your progress will be different to those not yet on HRT.

I can guide you through your top surgery recovery, I know how to tackle the hunger pains when you're new on T and I understand the frustration you feel when your curves aren't giving in the fat fight. This also applies to my free eBook, 'The In Shape Trans Guy Guide'.

Some of the topics in there include fat loss, building muscle and gym confidence. All of those things can very easily apply to those of you who aren't Trans. But I speak directly to Trans people by talking about things we tend to care more about. Like...

• Can we actually get rid of our curves? (Chapter 2 & 3)

• How to build a solid chest and set of arms (Chapter 5 & 7)

• Ways to feel less anxious in the gym surrounding things like changing rooms and binding (Chapter 4)

It’s not about selling you a “special Trans plan”. It’s about building a trusting, understanding and life changing relationship with someone who can help you get the results you want.
